T-BALL BASEBALL (Boys & Girls Ages 4 and 5)
This is an introduction to the game of baseball where players have fun and learn defensive positions, fielding, and how to properly use a bat and glove. Batters hit off a tee to begin developing hand - eye coordination. No "outs" are tracked at this level and scores or standings are not kept. There are no evaluations required for T-Ball.
"A" BASEBALL (Boys & Girls Ages 5 and 6)
No evaluations required for this level where players have fun and learn defense, fielding, and how to properly use a bat and glove. 5-year olds who have already played a year of T-Ball are eligible to play at this level. Players will continue to hit from the tee with an introduction to coach and machine pitch. The concept of making an out is introduced to help the children to better understand the basic rules of the game. No scores or standings are kept.
"AA" – Coach Pitch SOFTBALL (Ages 7 & 8)
The pitching will be done exclusively by the coaches. The games are played on the full sized softball field. The players will continue to learn the fundamentals of hitting and learn pitch selection and more advanced base running throughout the year. An emphasis will be placed on players learning all of the defensive positions and further their understanding of the rules of the game as it is played at the higher levels. Games will be played at Cherry Hill Atlantic as well as at other area Little Leagues.
"AAA" – Minors SOFTBALL (Ages 9 & 10)
This division will play the entire season with the players pitching. Umpires will be introduced to the game and the rules (with a few minor modifications for pace of play) will be that of an official softball game. Games will include walks, base stealing and bunting. Players will learn to slide safely and properly. More attention will be given to more advanced defensive play. The 11” softball will be used and the pitching distance will be 35’. Scores will be kept. Games will be played at Cherry Hill Atlantic as well as at other area Little Leagues.
MAJORS SOFTBALL (Ages 10, 11 and 12)
This is the most competitive level of play with scores kept and standings posted. Players should possess most skills needed to play competitively. Official Little League game rules (with a few minor modifications for pace of play) will be followed. The 12” softball will be used and the pitching distance will be 40’. Games will be played at Cherry Hill Atlantic as well as at other area Little Leagues.
